ARAN MYLVAGANAM
Aran Mylvaganam is a refugee rights advocate and union organiser from Melbourne. He is the founder of the Tamil Refugee Council. He was born in Northern Sri Lanka, and between 1995 and 1997, he lived in a refugee camp in Udayarkaddu. Aran came to Australia as a 13-year-old unaccompanied refugee in 1997, and was detained in Villawood detention centre for three months. He is currently an organiser with the Finance Sector Union, and spokesperson for the Tamil Refugee Council.

DIMA AL-MSODNY

Dima Al-Msodny is an Iraqi refugee and member of Resistance. Dima is a refugee rights activist and a member of the Refugee Action Coalition and People Just Like US in Sydney. Dima is a current Law and Social Sciences student at Western Sydney University.

MIA SANDERS

Mia Sanders is a National Co-convener of Resistance, and a Co-convener of the Sydney branch of Socialist Alliance. Mia played a leading role in the campaign against Chris Pyne's university fee deregulation legislation under the Abbott government, including convening the NSW Education Action Network, and sitting on the University of Western Sydney Bankstown Campus Council as the Women's and Queer Officer.

LYDIA SHELLY
Lydia Shelly is an outspoken human rights lawyer and activist. She is a member of the NSW Council of Civil Liberties. Lydia is the Vice President of the Islamophobia Register which records incidents of anti-Muslim violence and discrimination in Australia.

Ken Canning is a First Nations activist, poet and playwright from the Kunja Clan of the Bidjara Peoples of South West Queensland. His language name is Burraga Gutya. He has worked for many years in Aboriginal Education, and was a founder and former Academic and Cultural advisor at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning. Ken has played an instrumental leadership role in crucial Aboriginal struggles in Australia, such as the victory of the Redfern Aboriginal Tent Embassy.

MONA ABU ZALAF

ANGUS MCALLEN

Angus McAllen is a student activist at the University of Queensland, where he studies Political Science and History. He is a contributing author to Socialist Alliance's introductory Marxist literature. Angus is a former National Co-Convener of Resistance was a leading youth organiser of the Peoples' Summit and March against the G20 Summit in Brisbane in 2014.

SUE BOLTON

Sue Bolton is a councillor on the City of Moreland Council, a long term community activist, and a member of Socialist Alliance. Sue is a prominent leader in the community campaign against the East-West tunnel, and a dedicated organiser in Melbourne's refugee rights movement.

MIZGIN SAYAN

Mizgin Sayan ​is a member of the Kurdish Association Australia and is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Teaching at Western Sydney University.

      

PATRICK HARRISON

Patrick Harrison is a writer, environmental and Palestine solidarity activist from Wollongong. He convened the University of Wollongong Environment Collective in 2010, and was a National Co-Convener of Resistance in 2013. He is a member of Socialist Alliance, and was on the Alliance ticket for the NSW Legislative Council in 2010. Patrick is currently a foreign correspondent for Green Left Weekly, reporting from the West Bank in Palestine.

LIAM FLENADY

Liam Flenady is a long term activist and former National Convener of Resistance. He is a PHD student, and he has been a foreign correspondent for Green Left Weekly reporting from Brussels since 2014. Liam previously ran as a Socialist Alliance candidate in the 2013 Federal Elections.

Mona Abu Zalaf is a third generation Palestinian refugee from the city of Jaffa. She is currently studying law and journalism at the University of Technology Sydney and is a member of the Sydney Palestine Action Group.

BENJAMIN KURZMAN

Benjamin Kurzman has been a political activist in both Australia and Scotland. He became involved in radical politics after the 2010 election of the Conservatives in the UK. He has previously been a member of the Scottish Greens, inspired by their pro-independence stance. Benjamin joined Resistance in early 2014.

VIVIAN MESSIMERIS

Vivian Messimeris is a political journalist and artist. Vivian was a Green Left Weekly correspondent in Greece, and reported on the January elections from Athens. Vivian has recently won awards for her series of screen prints entitled 'Women of Kobane', which vibrantly depicts the Kurdish freedom fighters.

Selected artworks from the 'Women of Kobane' series will feature in the Radical Art Exhibition.

GEMMA WEEDALL

Gemma Weedall is an eco-socialist activist from Adelaide. She has been a leading member of Climate Emergency Action Network (CLEAN) for the last 7 years and helped kick off the campaign in South Australia to Repower Port Augusta with solar thermal technology. She is also a co-convener of the Adelaide branch of Socialist Alliance and a member of the Socialist Alliance National Executive.

MICH-ELLE MYERS
Mich-Elle Myers is a staunch unionist. She is the National Women's Liason Officer of the Maritime Union of Australia. She has been an instrumental leader in the Port Botany picket, a community assembly organised around the Hutchison dispute which saw 97 workers sacked by SMS at midnight, including 95% of the port's female workers.

SAM WATSON
Sam Watson is an First Nations activist, author, filmmaker and playwright, of the Munnenjarl and Biri Gubba tribal nations. He launched the Brisbane chapter of the Black Panther Party in 1971, and later co-founded the Australian Indigenous Peoples Party. Sam won the National Indigenous Writer of the Year Award in 1991, and his novel was short listed for the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award. Sam is the Aboriginal Rights Spokesperson for the Socialist Alliance, and has run as a candidate for Socialist Alliance in several federal elections.

SARAH HATHWAY

Sarah Hathway is a current National Co-Convener of Resistance and a Green Left Weekly journalist. She is a student activist at Deakin University, and a human rights campaigner in Victoria. Sarah played a key role in organising Geelong's first Marriage Equality rally in September this year. She was also a Socialist Alliance candidate in the 2014 Victorian State Elections.
